Riverton, WY
If anyone has been wondering where we are, most probably haven't, 2 days ago on the stretch from Douglas, WY to the Cody turnoff the truck began bellowing black smoke. We pushed up the road about 10 miles out of Shoshone we finally stropped along the road. With the hood up a very nice state fire marshall stopped and attempted to help. After much ado we decided that we needed to get off the road and pulled in the Bayson State Park that has no ammenities and no cell service but did have a pay phone. I called 2 ford dealers in the area and was told that they could not even see it for a week but was refered to an independent diesel guy 65 miles away. He said that it sounded like injectors and it needed to be towed in. I call the Good Sam Emergency Road Service (platimum) and am told that there are no providers in this area. I say why do I pay the $$ I do for this service if you can't help. She says Oh I can help but I need to find a tow that will take our payment, well what are you waiting for? She gets back to me 20min later, while I am sitting in the sun, on a log and I've just dropped $20 in quarters on the ground. She finally finds a driver and it takes him over an hour to find us. Truck now on the tow and away we go to Lander to drop it off. We get it there then to a rental car place, Rent-A-Wreck, go figure. Back 65 miles to NJ and the animals sitting in the heat. This morning I talk to the camp host, who has a 5th wheel, and he agrees to tow the rig here where we have power. Talked to the diesel guy little while ago and we could be facing as much as $3,500 to fix the truck and we will definately miss Cody. Truck probably won't be ready until monday. By the way, this campground charges for the use of the showers, .50 for 5 min, .75 for 7.5 min, $1 for 10 min & $1.25 for 12.5 min. On the other hand we have probably every TV station there is. Stay Tuned

OH MY! Sounds like you are NOT having fun at this point in time. Hopefully you'll be back on the road without too much out of pocket expense.
