First Trail

NJ's teaching schedule has been finalized so we know the first part of the trip.  We will still go first to Gettysburg National Park and then to Shenandoah National Park before heading to Greenville NC where she has a week long class.  After that we will go to northern Arkansas to visit with 2 of her father's sisters and then down to Texas.  We will make a short detour on the way to CO by going through Oklahoma City so that I can see the Softball Hall of Fame.  After that onto CO to see my Dad and brother before heading to the west coast. 

Trailer Home!

Picked up the trailer today and started putting stuff in it.  Just 16 days until we leave!

Getting Closer

We are still in the process of packing.  We had a "moving" sale this weekend that we held at the storage unit and made nearly $1000 in one day.  We spent the rest of this weekend putting stuff in 3 piles, what will go with us, what to donate and what to store.  We are also having dinner with various friends this week, Dottie, Belinda and Larry in Bangor tomorrow, friends that were our anchor when we first moved to Maine.  We will have dinner with Doug & Col Eugley & 2 other couples, softball friends since we've been in Sidney.  I pick up the trailer on Saturday so that we can start packing it.  We will end up living in it in the driveway the last couple days we are here.  Easter sunday dinner with Beth & Eric.

We are still waiting to hear if we will be going to Florida from here for NJ's teaching gig.  If not the direction will change and we will head to Gettysburg National Park and Shenandoah National Park, then to North Carolina where she has another teaching schedule, then will work our way to northern Arkansas to visit 2 elderly aunts of hers', then eventually down to Texas, then Colo and then work our way to the west coast.

We are looking at a 35 day tour of Alaska in a convoy and 8-10 rigs next spring.  It is a totally supported tour and looks like it would be quite interesting.

Packing

Starting to pack, big time job, deciding what to keep and what to put in a rather large moving sale that will go on next weekend.  For all you local readers we will have a sale at the storage facility at the middle road and lyon's rd in Sidney on fri & sat (15th-16th).

House

Good news this morning, the house sale is now a done deal so now we wait for the May 12th closing.

Getting Going

Well we are finally realizing our dream of traveling around the country in our 5th wheel.  We put our home up for sale and sold it in a record time of 3 days which was amazing in this economy.  We will close on May 12th and will be headed for Florida for a short stay while NJ teaches.  We then will take the Gulf Coast to Livingston, TX where we will establish our home base.  From there we will make our way west to see kids and grandkids that we have not seen for some time.  I will post probably daily our travels, what we see in this country, how it is to travel with 2 dogs and 2 cats in a 30ft 5th wheel trailer.
